August 14th: Polar Circle and Lofoten Islands…it worth the journey!

After 4400 km, wonderful landscapes and many bikers met on the road, we finally reached and crossed the 66° 33’ Parallel, in other words the Polar Circle. It was cloudy and sunny intermittently and temperature was 9 degree at Polar Circle but the satisfaction to be there was… how to say? … enormous! We were  on the Saltfjellet-Svartisen Nasjonalpark and the landscape was wonderful, lots of silence around.

We could also see a group of dears (I counted 20 of them).

 

We went ahead and finally some sun allowed us to take some photos of the landscape near Bodo where we’ve taken the ferry to Lofoten Islands.

Now we’re in the ferry, in about one hour we’ll be arriving in Moskenes (Lofoten islands). This little town is located in the first (east) Island of Lofoten. From there we’ll be visiting all other places through several bridges which link all Islands. We’ll stay there two days, to have some rest, enjoy the place and eat tons of fish :-) . There’s a nice camping on the limit of a cliff so hopefully tonight I’ll write my mails there, with a cup of tea in my hand and the artic sea in front of me.
